History
Back in June 1983 the Morini Riders Club were preparing for their first Track Day and in ATG (issue 86) Arthur Farrow the then Editor, was encouraging members and pals to join the 25 members already committed to the August event. To secure a place the members were asked to pay a deposit of £20.00 and every entrant was expected to help, as Cadwell, privately owned at the time, had no full-time marshals.
Current
This trackday is primarily for MRC Members and their friends, riding Morinis and other classic or interesting bikes. It is not designed for the usual trackday riders on modern machinery, slicks and tyre warmers for which there are plenty of other options. Think of it as a Trackday for classic bikes.
Usually, roughly a third are Morinis, both classic and more modern, and a few interesting racebikes. The range starts from the singles of the Fifties through to the classic and modern V-twins, and the Camel and Kanguro. Add to that another 80 or so classic and a few modern(ish!) non-Morinis on track and you have quite a spectacle.
Morinis have always had a reputation for brilliant handling, and the Cadwell Park full circuit (“the mini Nürburgring”) is ideally suited to the little single and twin lightweights. Spectating is free and we encourage enthusiast to join us, the paddock area is open to all, and on-site camping is usually available the night before as part of your entry fee
Want to join us?
It has traditionally been oversubscribed, so places are not guaranteed. To get a place you have to register your interest, usually in Jan when it opens the process via a link on this page. Then, a selection is made, based on whether you are a MRC member (highly recommended!), whether going to be riding a Morini, have you been a loyal customer before, and/or you riding something considered by the organisers to be “interesting” etc … If successful, in March (usually) you will be contacted and invited to book your place. If done promptly there is a discount, and a hefty discount for all MRC members. If not, you will be placed on the Reserve List and offered a place as and when they are not taken up by the initial selection.
You will have to have a FULL UK or ACU Bike licence or equivalent, a full face helmet with an ACU Gold sticker, leathers that as a minimum zip together all the way round, a back protector and decent boots and gloves. There is a mandatory 105db noise test that must be passed.
Watch this website for an announcement and for the link to become live, usually in mid January

Martin Gelder gets a bit carried away at his first classic track-day. As does his Moto Morini Three-and-a-half. On a trailer. Oh dear… (click image for link)
